Bartolo, a wealthy guardian in Seville, keeps the beautiful Rosina locked away deep within his household, intent on making her his wife. Count Almaviva, however, is secretly in love with Rosina and approaches her under a false identity, seeking help from Figaro, the city's resourceful barber and jack-of-all-trades. Through Figaro's cleverness, the Count slips past Bartolo's vigilant watch by disguising himself as a poor student, a drunken soldier, and a substitute music teacher, drawing ever closer to Rosina. Meanwhile, Bartolo conspires with the music teacher Basilio to force through a hasty wedding with Rosina, but the wit and schemes of Figaro and the Count stay one step ahead at every turn. In the end, the Count reveals his true identity, and after overcoming Bartolo's final attempt to stop them, he and Rosina at last unite in love, bringing the delightful comedy of errors to a happy conclusion.
